Paddington Pups Lends a Helping Paw

Paddington Pups Lends a Helping Paw.

At Paddington Pups we love dogs and want the best for all of them. That is why we are honoured to be big supporters of Gumtree Greys. Gumtree Greys works to rescue, foster and find forever homes for greyhounds. With unregulated breeding of Greyhounds for the racing industry in Australia, there is a huge problem with thousands of dogs being euthanized every year. This is due to a surplus in needed dogs and dogs that are no longer able to race. At Paddington Pups we have provided over $30 000 worth of support to Gumtree Greys and look forward to continuing to support them in the future. You can find out more about Gumtree Greys here .... Paddington Pups QUT Pet Adoption Documentary

Just a few weeks ago, Paddington Pups invited a few QUT students into our daycare centre to film  footage for a Documentary they put together on pet adoption. Some of our customers kindly allowed the students to do some short interviews with them about where they got their very much loved puppy from.

They also interviewed Bree about the daycare centre and the importance of dog adoption. Watch closely as your puppy may have been in on the day for day care or grooming and could be on the video!

The Dog Squad

Unfortunately in our society there is a stigma when it comes to mental illness.  Because of this, hundreds of people returning from the war tend to hide their combat stress and mental illness and leave it untreated. Young Diggers is an organisation that helps all serving and ex-serving personnel of the Australian or New Zealand Defence Forces, by providing services like compensation, welfare, military to civilian transition and family advice.

The Dog Squad programme aims to help in the rehabilitation of returned soldiers suffering with combat stress and mental illness, by introducing them to a dog companion.

The basis of the Dog Squad programme is ‘Dog Medicine’. All serving and ex-serving personnel of the Australian or New Zealand Defense Force that are involved in the programme learn how to care for a dog properly, train their dog to a high standard, and operate within the laws that govern one’s use ... In Loving Memory of Jaxon,

JaxonJaxon, a German Shepherd Cross came into Paddington Pups for his fortnightly baths on a Saturday, he has spent the last 16 months fighting Canine Lymphoma, a battle that he lost on March 26. For that 16 month period he was being treated by the fantastic vets and support staff at the University of Queensland (UQ) Small Animal Clinic at St. Lucia.

It seems that the University has made a decision to close this Small Animal Clinic at St Lucia in January 2014 and open a new clinic at Gatton.

As a legacy to Jaxon and in his memory Michael his owner has set up an E-Partition that implores UQ to seriously reconsider this decision. This would be a serious loss not only to Brisbane pet owners, but also too many Vet Clinics in the Greater Brisbane area who rely heavily on the UQ Small Animal Clinic for vet and

Comfort Golden Retriever Aids Grievers of Sandy Hook Elementary School Massacre

On December 14, 2012 The Sandy Hook Elementary School lost 20 children and 6 adults in a horrific massacre that shook the world.

On the 15th of December during the wake, a Lutheran Church sent in 9 Golden Retrievers Comfort Dogs to help with the Grief and Tragedy of what had happened a day before.

The nine Golden Retrievers have travelled America, aiding in stressful situations at Hospitals, Disaster Zones and Sites of Tragedy. The comfort dogs provide affection, comfort and love to those who have lost a loved one, a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen.

These Therapy dogs have been trained professionally to help children and adults deal with disaster and tragedy.

Many of the children and teenagers that had witnessed the massacre started opening up and speaking about what they had witnessed all the while patting and stroking ... Click here to read more....

Guide Dogs and How You Can Help

I often see people and guide dogs in training in interesting places, leaving me thinking the hard work that must go in to training one of these puppies into a reliable, self sufficient dog!

According to Guide Dogs Australia, it takes up to two years to properly train a guide dog. The process includes working with purebred Labrador and Golden Retriever puppies from 8 weeks, as they are calm and loyal pets that offer a responsive mind. The puppies are checked over with a fine tooth comb by selected veterinarians to ensure they have a healthy mind and body for the job.

The puppies are then transferred to their ‘puppy families’ (a family chosen to help raise the puppy until it is of 14 months), and then re-join the Guide Dog team when they are ready for more serious training.

For the puppy families, they are responsibly to provide ... Click here to read more....

Paddington Pups Charity Day

Paddington Pups will be holding a charity day on Thursday 17th of November for the Millan Foundation.  Cesar Millan’s charity has been chosen in honour of his visit to Brisbane on that Thursday.  We have invited Cesar to join us to receive the donations in person, but we are still waiting to find out if he can make it in during his busy schedule and limited time in Brisbane.

Paddington Pups will be doing $10 hydrobaths that day with all the proceeds being donated directly to his charity. We will also be giving away another 2 tickets to Cesar Millan’s show that night with the tickets valued at $290 – these are Premium Reserve tickets and they will be right up the front and include a 30 minute Q & A session with Cesar after the show.

The Millan Foundation provides financial support to assist non-profit animal shelters and ... Click here to read more....

Paddington Pups Raised $667.40 for RSPCA Pupcake Day

Once again Paddington Pups participated in the RSPCA’s cupcake day fund raiser.  Making a phenomenal $667.40 which (considering it being another quiet Monday) is an exceptional effort!

Thanks must go to Bree and her husband Ross for making a life time supply of cupcakes, Suzy for making some beautifully decorated and delicious cupcakes, and Katchia for expanding her cooking repertoire to package cupcakes (surprisingly edible!).

Last year we raised $672.60 Next year we hope to blitz these records!

A special thanks to everyone who bought and donated in support of the RSPCA.
